Fantastic food, lovely decor, cosy atmosphere and Gary's coat man; Gary's coat was just exceptional.
The food was fine, but service very slow, especially the coffees and teas.
Good pub, though not what I was hoping for considering it's owned by the National Trust. Nice, old-school atmosphere and reasonably good food. Good selection of beers and ales, too.
Although I have never seen the ghost that is said to walk the stairs, I have always enjoyed my time here. Yummy food served in reasonable time, attentive staff (even when the place is heaving they deliver a fine service) and nice selection of drinks. Recommended.
Great pub food - the menu looks straightforward but the food is really well thought through and executed. I had a chicken burger, tenderised and marinated, and very well flavoured. My wife had a steak and ale pie, hand-raised with beautiful yellow puff pastry. Good atmosphere inside and great service. Really happy and will visit again.
